Quotes from inspiring women and a giveaway!

In honor of this months blog giveaway, for an inspiring writing from a female author, here are some quotes that I love!!

"A cultural fixation on female thinness is not an obsession about female beauty but an obsession about female obedience."

"Dieting is the most potent political sedative in women's history; a quietly mad population is a tractable one."

both by Namoi Wolf "The Beauty Myth"

"How frail the human heart must be - a mirrored pool of thought."

"Dying is an art, like everything else. I do it exceptionally well. I do it so it feels like hell. I do it so it feels real. I guess you could say I've a call. "

both by Sylvia Plath

"I'd rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck. "

"If voting changed anything, they'd make it illegal. "

"No one has yet realized the wealth of sympathy, the kindness and generosity hidden in the soul of a child. The effort of every true education should be to unlock that treasure. "

"No real social change has ever been brought about without a revolution... revolution is but thought carried into action."

"The most unpardonable sin in society is independence of thought. "

All quotes by Emma Goldman

And the quote of the week is......

"Women need not always keep their mouths shut and their wombs open." Emma Goldman

As a righteous, ass kicking, ferocious feminist I LOVE THIS POST! I just had a talk with some friends today about the need to cut out all the 'fat talk' and awful comments they make all the time about their weight, looks and the fact that they are going to be 'bad' and eat a cupcake. COME ON! I wanted to hand them all a copy of The Beauty Myth!
